Welcome to The Recursion Codex!
The Recursion Codex is the official site for fan-generated recursions for use in The Strange roleplaying game. This is a great place to share recursions you’ve created for your own The Strange campaign and to mine the recursions of others for use in your game.
Browsing Recursions in the Codex
You can search the recursion list by name, law, level, age and size, and tag. Browse the recursions that meet your criteria to find just what you’re looking for, or find the inspiration to create a recursion that better serves your campaign!
Adding New Recursions
We invite you to add new recursions you’ve developed for your game. The more detailed and fleshed out you can make them, the more useful they’ll be to other gamers!
To submit a recursion, you’ll need the following information about it:
- Level
- Laws
- Playable Races
- Foci
- Skills
- Connection to the Strange
- Connection to Earth
- Age and Size
- Spark
- Trait
- And a description
Don’t Forget: In the universe of The Strange, fictional leakage is a phenomenon outside the realm of intellectual property concerns. That’s not the case in the real world. Please do not post or link to text or images for which you do not have the rights. In fact, take a moment to read our entire Terms of Use (it will only take you a moment).
Adding New Foci
We invite you to add new Foci that you have developed for your Recursions. The more detailed and fleshed out you can make them, the more useful they’ll be to other gamers!

- Name
- Draggable to other recursions
(Yes or No) - Recursions it is linked to

Foci In Recursions
The foci described for each recursion represent only the base foci options available in that recursion. If the GM has a source for other foci that she decides are appropriately themed (such as other foci from the corebook, from third party publishers, or foci adapted from all the various Numenera sources), she should feel free to allow them into a given recursion on a case by case basis.
